Abstrak

This study aims to analyze efforts to combat illegal trade in protected wildlife in Lampung Province. The study focuses on preventive and repressive efforts carried out by law enforcement officers, their effectiveness, and the obstacles faced in taking action. This study uses juridical-normative research, namely research that focuses on examining the application of rules or norms in laws and regulations and relevant literature. The results of the study show that trade in protected wildlife is an environmental crime that threatens the sustainability of biodiversity, including in Lampung Province, which is one of the areas with a fairly high level of illegal wildlife trade. This study discusses efforts to combat protected wildlife trade crimes in Lampung Province through penal and non-penal approaches. Non-penal efforts include increasing socialization and education to the community, strengthening regulations, and strict supervision in conservation areas and trade routes. Meanwhile, penal efforts are carried out through stricter law enforcement, increasing coordination between related agencies such as the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), the police, and non-governmental organizations, and the application of heavier legal sanctions for perpetrators of crimes. Although various steps have been taken, challenges such as weak law enforcement, limited resources, and the involvement of international trade networks are still major obstacles in the crimes of these members. Therefore, stronger synergy is needed between the government, law enforcement, and the community to create more effective solutions in protecting endangered wildlife. This study provides insight into the effectiveness of wildlife protection strategies in Lampung Province, improving collaboration between institutions, and increasing community involvement in conservation efforts.
